Singapore

A melting pot of cultures, Singapore is an impressive and unique experience.

Arriving at the Marina Bay Sands is an experience in itself—the light-filled lobby is in the center of the towering structure and feels like it never ends. The hotel is beautiful, rooms are nice and the service amazing, but of course the highlight is the rooftop. Peering over the city, the infinity pool makes you feel like you could just roll over the edge and into the bay below.

On one side, the view of the skyline and the harbor seem to surround you. The Marina Bay Street Circuit twists it’s way through the streets below. On the other side is a view of the lush Gardens by the Bay and the space ship-like buildings that function as huge greenhouses.

Our visit was most singularly to attend an event (Formula1 race!) and while we didn’t get to experience the breadth of what Singapore has to offer, the small part we did was an unforgettable experience.

STAY

  • Marina Bay Sands Hotel - THE hotel in Singapore. It’s huge and stunning with an incredible rooftop with an infinity pool. It is quite a unique experience to swim up to the edge of the pool and look out over the city.

COFFEE, TEA & JUICE

  • Ronin - Espresso and a small food menu, great for breakfast

FOOD

  • Spago Bar & Lounge - On the rooftop of the Marina Bay Sands. It’s got a great vibe, delicious food and tasty cocktails.

DRINKS

  • Raffles Hotel - Where the Original Singapore Sling was created. It’s got a great vibe at the hotel and in the bar. The drink was okay but spendy at $30 / ea.

ACTIVITES

  • Gardens By the Bay - These are glass domed buildings that contain botanic gardens and they are beautiful! The Cloud Forest is a definite highlight and even walking around the grounds is very impressive and interesting. I found discounted tickets on a third party website.

  • Singapore Flyer - a large ferris wheel (like the London Eye) that takes about 35-40 minutes to go around and provides stunning views of the bay and city. Sundown is a great time to go.

  • Sands Sky Park Observation Deck - If you don’t stay at the Marina Bay Sands, the public can access the Observation deck on one side of the rooftop. The views are incredible!

  • The Shoppes - a huge shopping center attached to Marina Bay Sands Hotel. Full of tons of shops and restaurants, it feels vegas-y and extravagant.
