Bali

The land of yoga, surfing and acai bowls, Bali is the ultimate destination for tropical (and budget friendly) relaxation and adventure.

Situated on the southwest coast of Bali, Canggu has that small town, local feel while still having great options for food & fun.

Our rental in Canggu was a custom built modern home with a private pool, great lounge space, and large doors that connected the indoor and outdoor spaces. Plenty of room for the 5 of us to hang out together with sheet masks (real life) or for us each to have our own quiet space.

Most days started with walking to the beach to surf or heading to a yoga studio in town. Cold brew coffee and smoothie bowls were abundant and the kitchen counter was piled with fresh tropical fruit and sunscreen--the sign of true vacation.

When we were feeling adventurous, we'd grab a helmet from the pile on the patio ledge and hop on scooters that we rented from a liquor mart for $5/day. One day was spent braving a hectic 3hr+ ride through insane Bali traffic after which we were coated in exhaust soot.

On less adventurous days, lounging on the deck, ordering delivery, and swimming in the pool were the activities du jour.

Evenings were filled with dinner and drinks with an ocean view as we watched the sun dip below the horizon.

Bali’s amazing sites, lovely people, and sense of ease make it truly magical.

CANGGU

STAY

Air Bnb - Our AirBnb was great—a spacious, modern house that slept 6 people and had our own private courtyard and pool. The location was close to the main part of town and the beach, walkable to a lot of options. It was on this back dirt road that was surrounded by empty lots and one building under construction which was a little odd, but the wonderful house and the location were worth it,

COFFEE, TEA & JUICE

Deus Ex Machina - Great for coffee and snacks during the day and drinks at night. The space is huge and, like the CA location, is a mix of food, retail and custom motorcycles. Its got great vibes and attracts a crowd in the evenings.

FOOD

Cafe Organic - tasty healthy food spot, great for breakfast, brunch, lunch, coffee, juice, etc.
Monsieur Spoon - Same as above...has a nice patio and more seating than other spots.
The Shady Shack - Delicious healthy food spot! Great for breakfast, brunch, and lunch.
The Lawn Beach Lounge - We LOVED this spot! They have a great lawn with comfy seating and umbrellas, a dining area, a bar, and an infinity pool looking out on the beach. Their food was great, drinks were tasty and the vibes are awesome! Perfect for sundown drinks and dinner. Goes off on the weekend nights.
Warung Bu Mi - home cooked Indonesian food. They cook it, put it in a case and serve it until it’s gone, replacing it with another dish. You fill your plate with whatever looks good to you.

DRINKS

Salumeria Tanah Barak - Cute little italian spot that we enjoyed some Campari cocktails at one night.

ACTIVITIES

GOLDUST Beauty Lounge - great little spa to get massages, facials, mani/pedis, etc. Make an appointment ahead of time.
The Practice - A yoga studio specializing in Hatha (more slow, less flow). Their practice room is a lovely open air structure and classes and great!

ULUWATU

Single Fin - Super great beach vibes here, great spot for afternoon/sundown drinks and food. Make a reservation if you can as it seemed to get crowded really quick.
Uluwatu Temple - A massive temple on the coast in Uluwatu. Interesting to walk around and see the monkeys play.
Suluban Beach - This beach is gorgeous--caves carved out by the ocean. Make sure you go at low tide so that you can walk down on the beach and out on the reef.
